S.E.E.D. 2017!

Scientific Education Enrichment Day was held Saturday October 7, 2017 at the University of South Carolina Aiken. This was my fourth time representing Aiken Soil & Water Conservation District for this event. Every year the event seems to grow larger, and in fact records were broken with over 4500 people in attendance. SEED is a family themed festival celebrating science, technology, engineering and math. This year ASWCD's booth addressed watersheds. Students, teachers, and parents each got their turn to make a model watershed with was paper and markers. A spray bottle was used to simulate water running through the watershed. Students made observations from their models and tied them to real world scenarios to better grasp the concept of a watershed.
